Heron’s is highly skilled in the safe and efficient removal of large, hazardous trees. In fact, we're so good at it, it's become 80% of our business. And not only do we remove trees for our own customers, we're also hired by virtually every other tree company in the area to handle the most challenging and difficult jobs too. Word is: if they say it can't be done, Heron's can do it.
First of all - expertise. We're one of the few companies that's been using a crane for more than 30 years, which gives us capabilities and experience you'd be hard pressed to find anywhere else. Plus our crew includes expert climbers and riggers who've never had a problem with any tree we've encountered. When some of the oldest and largest trees in New Jersey had to come down, Heron's was called in to do the job. (Rutgers University has the verification.)
There will be minimal disturbance to your property. Turf mats and plywood will be used to help protect your grounds against unsightly depressions left by heavy equipment. Trees will be cut as low to the ground as possible. Stumps will remain intact unless arrangements are made for Stump Grinding. At the conclusion of the job, your property will be raked and left free of debris. All wood will be hauled away, unless you decide to keep it for firewood. Because we're so efficient our rates are very competitive. We'll be on and off your property in less time than most other removers, which will save you money.
Healthy trees need regular maintenance to keep them that way. Pruning should be done annually to remove dead wood and conflicting limbs. This will allow for proper airflow and sunlight penetration, which will help to keep trees healthy and living longer. It’s also essential to remove any limbs that could be hazardous to your home or surrounding structures. Although pruning can be performed at any time, it’s most efficient in late fall, winter, or early spring when foliage is off the branches. Cabling and lightning protection systems are additional options we may recommend for tree preservation.
Grinding stumps below ground level (grade) will make it look like the tree was never there. Most of the time we grind stumps approximately eight inches below grade. However, if necessary, we can grind even deeper. Heron’s uses two types of stump grinders. Our smaller, self-propelled machine can fit through narrow gates and small openings allowing us to reach stumps where access is limited. Our larger tow-behind machine is appropriate for stumps that can be reached by truck. This machine can grind stumps of any diameter and can go as deep as 36 inches below grade. For safety reasons, once a stump is removed, the wood chips are raked back over the resulting cavity. Any remaining root mulch can be spread in planting beds, around trees or used in other parts of your landscape. Root mulch is the material used by landscapers and will not attract carpenter ants.
Heron’s has the experience and capabilities to care for large commercial properties and municipalities as well as private residences. In addition to Tree Removal, Pruning and Cabling and Stump Grinding, we also offer these services:
For your fireplace or fire pit, Heron’s has split, seasoned, ready-to-burn hardwood available throughout the year. You can also request un-split log lengths if you prefer to split your own.
Heron’s snow removal and salt spreading services are available on a seasonal-contract basis for both residential and commercial clients. In addition to parking areas, we will clear steps and walkways. Rock salt is used on all paved areas and calcium chloride on all sidewalks and steps.
